Huddle Blog
O HAI GUIZE!

I’m Bob Gregory, .Net programmer at Huddle.Net; Panicker in Chief and Vice President of The Department for Restarting the Search Engine.
I want to try and talk a bit about what it’s like working at Huddle day to day and the kind of challenges we’re facing technically and commercially that make hacking for Huddle so much fun. I’d LOVE to be able to do dissections of bugs that affected lots of people, partly so that other programmers can laugh at us, but also so that our users get a real explanation for why things don’t always go smoothly. We DO care and we DO test and we DO work hard to make Huddle useful and usable, but sometimes things slip through.
I definitely want to talk about how we’re moving to more scalable and fault-tolerant ways of building things as user numbers continue to climb.
It might be nice if I could post code, either direct to here, or maybe to Google Code, if I stumble on anything particularly nice or particularly helpful, but I think that Marketing will probably object if I start a WTF section. We’re currently putting together our APIs (they’re late, we know, we’re sorry, building a good web service is harder than you might think) and this might be a good place to talk about those as well.
So I figure I’ll just keep making micro-posts into UltraEdit and something bloggable will eventually get through the filters.
I don’t use Huddle nearly as much as I should, being more interested in building it than using it, but I’ll try to change that by setting up discussion boards for topics that attract any real traffic and inviting people to come and join the conversation. (what, you guys haven’t seen the discussion boards yet? they’re fun)
Now that’s Web 2.0-tastic
