Turning our attention to the API
Thursday, May 29, 2008
With the Huddle development team now firing on all cylinders, and getting going on some great new features that will be emerging over the coming weeks and months, it is now time for us to start focusing on plans to open up our API. As you may know, our API has been up and running, and used by our Facebook application (http://facebook.huddle.net/) since the start of year. We’ll be going through that API over the coming weeks, a function at a time, and making sure that it is sensibly designed and well documented – basically that it is something that we would be proud to show to the world and happy to maintain backwards compatibility for in the future. We’ll be releasing documentation and access a function at a time as we complete this process.
What we really want is an online collaboration tool which would allow us to share the documentation with interested developers as soon as it’s ready, as well as provide a space for discussion amongst the development community. Luckily we have just such a tool ready to go – it’s called Huddle! So, we have created a Huddle API workspace, where you can be sure to be the first to hear when we have the first cut ready to go. If you would like to join this workspace then send an email to developers@huddle.net.
