Your Pet Hates

We recently asked you what you loved and hated about Huddle. Most of your responses fell into a handful of categories, so here are our responses to your Huddle Hates. Needless to say, we are very grateful for all your feedback and are working towards ticking all of the below from our to-do list.

Online editing
You hate: No online editing, have to download and then re-upload
We say: We’ve just completed our online editing for Excel (.xls) and Word (.doc) files. We want to support a whole bunch of other formats, too, but these two should cover the majority of our customer needs. The online editing has just gone into private beta, and once our testers (thanks guys) are happy with the way it works, we’ll be rolling the feature out to all users of Huddle.

Calendar
You hate: Lack of calendar, don’t have good overview of tasks
We say: Sit tight! One of the big upcoming items on our road map is a new online calendar with all the fancy drag and drop, AJAX simplicity that you expect from Outlook or Google Calendar. We’ll allow you to add tasks from the new, shinier interface, so that you can see at a glance how your project plan sits together and where there might be conflicts with other items. We’ll also be taking another look at the ways that you can export or publish your calendars, so that sharing your schedule is made super-easy.

Filing Cabinet
You hate: Too many clicks!
We say: We get the message. Good news: we’ve already been working on this in the background and have had a usability agency come to Huddle’s offices to tell us how we can do things better. This is the top development priority for the next few weeks, so you should be getting a new and improved filing cabinet (shiny new UI, drag and drop etc) really soon, we promise.

Internationalisation
You hate: UI not available in other than English, French and German
We say: We’ve focused on supporting languages that our customers have needed. If you need Huddle in a language that it doesn’t support, get in touch. Even better, if you can help us to translate the site to another language, we’d love to hear from you at hello@huddle.net

To-do lists
You hate: Lack of thereof
We say: Yes, we know. We will be taking a good look at how we can build a better to-do application shortly.

Communications
You hate: Inability to send some sort of messages to individuals or groups of users. A forum and/or wiki would be nice.
We say: There is a lot of thinking going into more comms features at the moment: anything from wikis, private messaging through IM to web conferencing. Watch this space.

Slow-loading
You hate: Slow page loads
We say: We’re always looking for ways to make the site go faster. Coming soon: super-skinny page sizes thanks to advanced techno-magickery, faster database queries and more use of AJAX to load data as you need it, not when you first hit the page.
